Returns the number of transactions in a block matching the given block number.

Parameters:

• blockNumber: block number in hex format or the strings 'latest', 'earliest', 'pending'.

Returns:

• result: a hex string representing the number of transactions in the block.

note

For "pending" blocks, the API forwards requests to RPC nodes, and returns back to clients the responses received from the RPC nodes.
