Manage promotions

Overview

This guide explains how to set up and run promotions in your store using the Mavis Store CMS (content management system). With promotions, you can offer discounts to your customers by creating promotion codes that they can redeem at checkout. You can generate two types of promotion codes: universal codes that can be used by anyone and unique custom-prefixed codes that can be used only once. Plus, Mavis Store can automatically handle the start and end of a promotion for you, or if you prefer a more hands-on approach, you can start and end a promotion at the press of a button.

Prerequisites

Create at least one item in your store. For more information, see Manage items.

Steps

Step 1. Create a promotion

1. Visit the CMS at store-cms.skymavis.com and log in with your Mavis account.
2. Select the Promotions page and click Add Promotion.
3. In Promotion code information, give your promotion a unique name and select the promotion code type:
   • Universal code: a code that can be used by anyone.
   • Unique code: a code that can be used only once.
4. For a universal code, specify the following:
   • Promotion code: enter the code that customers will use to redeem the promotion.
   • Maximum redemptions: set whether the code can be used a limited number of times, and if so, how many times.
   • Currency select: choose the currency for the promotion. The promotion code will be valid only for items with the selected currency.
   • Discount amount: set the discount amount.
5. For a unique code, specify the following:
   • Prefix: enter a prefix for the unique code. The prefix is followed by a unique number.
   • Number of unique codes to generate: set the number of unique codes to generate. Each code can be used only once.
   • Promotion code: enter the code that customers will use to redeem the promotion.
   • Currency select: choose the currency for the promotion. The promotion code will be valid only for items with the selected currency.
   • Discount amount: set the discount amount.
6. In Active dates, set the promotion start and end dates and times:
   • Promotion has start date: set whether the promotion has a start date and time or starts after creation.
   • Promotion has end date: set whether the promotion has an end date and time or runs until you manually end it.
7. Click Save to save the campaign as a draft.

After you save the promotion as a draft, Mavis Store generates a list of promotion codes based on the settings you provided. You can view them right away and download the list of codes as a CSV file.

Step 2. Start the promotion

After saving the promotion as a draft, you need to publish it to make it live. Click Start promotion to make the promotion available to customers:

• For promotions without automatic scheduling, the promotion starts right away.
• For promotions with automatic scheduling, the promotion starts at the scheduled time.

This action changes the promotion's status to "On-going."

Step 3. Distribute the promotion codes

After your promotion is live, distribute the promotion codes to your customers:

1. Go to the promotion detail page in the Mavis Store CMS.
2. In the Promotion code information, click Download the list to download the list of codes and redemption status as a CSV file.
3. Distribute the codes to your customers.

Step 4. End the promotion

When the promotion ends, you can manually end it or have it end automatically if you set an end date. To end the promotion manually, click End promotion.

The promotion's status changes to "Completed," and customers can no longer redeem the promotion code.
